Vegetation in its most wild and rugged state becomes Werens’ experimentation ground in this series of paintings, which continues the flower collection theme. Agave leaves are what become the absolute protagonists on the canvas: they emerge shamelessly, grow powerful, interweave and extend luxuriantly to fill up the entire area until they colour the inert and lifeless city we live in with green.
The artist has combined acrylic and spray for the groundwork of this collection. So while the blurred airbrush lines define leaves, the acrylic stroke is what gives form to the setting.
